    Michael Gove has recognised a serious problem with computing in schools and the implications that has for the future of our economy. He has also identified the right endpoint we need to achieve to solve the problem – people leaving school knowing how to make computers work rather than just being able to use them for basic functions.

    The challenge will be finding the right way to get there. His proposed strategy is high risk and may backfire unless great account is taken of the shortage of specialist teachers.
